Can you summarise your role at NESA?
As a NESA Capital Laboratory Equipment Specialist, I primarily cover Cambridge, MA for our equipment partners, aligning equipment solutions with the needs of the laboratory space and the science.
From working with researchers to customize containment for their specific applications, to connecting with design teams to integrate equipment for new ground up construction, I wear a lot of different hats to integrate our local equipment manufacturers to best fit the research of the Cambridge area.
How long have you been at NESA?
A little over 6 years!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Learning from our customers. We have some great clients doing incredible research and it’s a pleasure to contribute in a small part to making their job easier with quality lab equipment, so they can continue to provide groundbreaking innovations for patients.
What is the most challenging aspect of your role?
Keeping up with the pace of science! Discoveries are moving at breakneck speed, with new technologies coming out every week. NESA manufacturers have moved quickly to build designs around the new technology requirements, and aligning our speed of manufacturing with the speed of discovery is increasingly important to ensure our customers can get therapies to patients as quickly as possible.
How did you get into this profession?
My undergraduate degree was in Biomedical Marketing, focusing on the overlaps between business and healthcare. After working in the business operations end of a small startup incubator, I was introduced to the NESA team, which was a great fit to continue to support the biomedical space.
What are you most looking forward to over the next few months?
I’ve been pursuing my MBA part-time at Boston University over the past few years and the final semester is just around the corner. There were definitely some late nights involved and I’m looking forward to applying the course work to better serve the local life science community after graduation!
Outside of work, what keeps you busy?
When not juggling MBA class work, I like to mix my time between long distance running and soccer. My meniscus and ACL have recently taken offense to these activities, but I hope to be back out there soon enough.

Can you summarise your role at NESA?
I have a few roles within NESA. I manage the group, provide sales within my specific geographic area, a global responsibility relative to cGMP related jobs, consulting and educational seminars across a broad range of industry partners and sectors.
How long have you been at NESA?
I am coming up on a decade with NESA. Time flies!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Every day is different! My background is science, having spent years working in a BSC in the field of Genetics. I really enjoy connecting with the customers, understanding their science and areas of interest, and providing valuable solutions relative to their work.
What is the most challenging aspect of your role?
I struggle if I can’t meet the specific needs of a customer. Covid created supply chain issues that impacted many facets of our industry. The products we work with are integral to clinical areas, healthcare facilities, research facilities, and drug development efforts. Timelines are critical and supply chain issues has been a source of frustration over the last few years.
How did you get into this profession?
By circumstance! I had left the science world for a few years and redirected my efforts while in graduate school. Deep down, science was a passion and I knew that I wanted to get back into the industry. I applied for this career during a family move and was lucky enough to join the NESA team!
What are you most looking forward to over the next few months?
As conferences and face-to-face interactions have grown post-COVID. Its been great reconnecting with long-time peers and colleagues. I have a few events in the coming months that are finally “on” after a number of years being virtual.
Outside of work, what keeps you busy?
I have 2 busy children that keep me on my toes! I spend time coaching soccer and engaging in community activities. I enjoy trail running to keep active, it allows me some calm moments in between the craziness.
